Bernina and Alp Grüm in the Snow

At the beginning of the month, we had our first “real” snow, i.e. snow that stayed longer than a couple of hours before melting. We headed up to the mountains for a quick overnight stay. It was sunny and cold, but there was snow. Perfect to start the festive season! It was a full moon night and the moon shone brightly, reflecting off the snow. We stopped at Ospizio Bernina (at 2253 m the highest train station along the Rhaetian Railway) at to enjoy the blue hour and the next day hiked down from Alp Grüm in the snow to Cavaglia. The only tracks in the snow, were animal tracks and there was even a chamoix spotting.

When Andi sent us a few pics from this adventure, I was captivated by the night beauty of the snow and lights. But it’s equally as beautiful in the daylight. What a fun birthday get away for Andi! I can only imagine how peaceful it was in that gorgeous setting!
