About

“Nature’s peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves.”
—John Muir

Welcome to Capturing the Seasons, a blog devoted to nature and travel photography.

I follow the seasons, embracing what each period of the year brings and eating what’s growing at the moment in my garden. A jump in the lake in summer or cross-country skiing in winter, foraging for mushrooms in the autumnal forest or planting seeds in spring are elements of simple and slow-living I cherish. Being in nature is what makes me happy and content, and I strive to capture these moments with my camera.

As the child of parents who are avid travelers and food-lovers, I inherited these traits. This blog is mostly filled with the places I travel to, with a few recipes I’ve created thrown in. My recipes are inspired by my childhood on two continents and foods from my travels. I make a point of eating organic and regionally grown food whenever possible.
