A Taste of Winter

For the fourth time in a row, a group of my colleagues and I headed to the mountains for a weekend of frolicking in the snow. I had been looking forward to this weekend for quite some time since this year’s winter was extremely mild, and I hadn’t seen any snow since last winter. It was high time to have a taste of winter!

We arrived in a flurry of snowflakes and wind and quickly made our way to the bar for an aperitif. It continued to snow the whole night and the next morning it was very foggy. But that didn’t deter us. Some strapped on their skis and hit the slopes, others headed for some back-country skiing or cross-country skiing and a few went for a hike in the snow. I relished the opportunity to be out in the snow and in nature and savored the sound of my boots crunching in the snow while the snowflakes felt like feathers on my face.

Once the sun came out in the afternoon, it was possible to see the surrounding mountains.

The next morning the sun shone brightly and made the snow glitter like millions of tiny diamonds. A group of us headed up to soak up the rays and spend time together. It is a weekend I will remember for a long time.
