Postcard from Val Rosegg

One of my favorite valleys in Engadin to hike through is Val Rosegg. Funnily enough, I’ve only been there in autumn and winter. I’m thinking I need to change that.

I started out early in the morning when the valley is still in the shade. It felt like my nose and cheeks were going to fall off. The further back into the valley I walked, the closer I came to the sun. Then the valley opened up and the grand glaciers came into view.

Walking back out was much warmer because the sun had come up over the mountains and bathed the valley in sunlight.

It’s hard to believe that there could be a place with such spectacular beauty and there are many places like that. The snow doesn’t look real but like clouds floating on the ground. It does look cold but I wish I was with you to experience that true winter wonderland.

  4. What a beautiful hike you had in this valley. Your photos really capture your experience, and I especially like the ones of the snow-covered rocks in the stream.
